Differences of opinion between the Labour Councils in New South Wales and Victoria are revealed on the recommendation of the Australasian Council of Trades Unions that the union boycott of the National Register should be abandoned.
The New South Wales Trade Labour Council decided to abandon the boycott. but the Victorian Trades Hall Council rejected the recommendation, and will continue the boycott. The Newcastle Trades Hall Council also decided to continue the boycott.
