Mr. Savage Contradicts Report
MR. NASH'S MISSION
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) The Prime Minister, Mr M. J. Savage, today positively contradicted the London cable published in the morning’s newspapers that Mr Nash has •indefinitely pdstponed jhis negotiations. He also expressed resentment that one newspaper printed the report under the heading “British Official Wireless,” though it was obviously not from that source. “I got a telegram from Mr Nash on Saturday morning,” said Mr Savage. “It stated that he is leaving London as soon as negotiatioss are completed. He said there were one or two things still remaining to be completed, but the general impression he gave was that most of the work had already been agreed to and signed up, only one or two points remaining. “These are associated with the renewal of the loan falling due at the end of the year. “I know nothing of any indefinite postponement of negotiations. In the Interests of Gamblers, This cable mentions improvement in New Zealand stocks, but its contents published abroad would have the effect of depressing them again. “Cables of that description are in the interests of gamblers, who, after the depressing influence, will sell out on a rise when the truth is ascertained ” said the Prime Minister.
