Young Farmers' Club At Kerikeri

With the majority of the members interested in citrus fruit culture and general orchard work, as distinct from dairying, a unique Young Farmers’ Club was formed at Kerikeri this Aveek.

The club is the fourth to be formed in the Whangarci branch of the Agricultural Department's area, and the sixteenth in Northland.

Convened by Mr P. Everett, orchard instructor at Kerikeri, a meeting of young men interested was held at Shropshire Farm. Addresses were given by Mr Everett and by Mr E. B. Glanville, instructor in Agriculture at Whangarci. who stressed the benefit which the young men of the district would gain from linking up with the Young Farmers’ organisation.

It was unanimously agreed to form a Kerikeri branch, and the following officers were elected. —Chairman. Mr C. G. Macdairmid; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. R. Bowden; committee, Messrs D. G. Callender, M. Waters and L. E. Anderson.

The appointment of an advisory president and committee is to be made at a later date.

At the conclusion of the meeting supper was served by Captain F. W. Voelcker.
