i The usual monthly meeting of the Whangarei Women’s Civic League was held on Tuesday afternoon, July 11, at the residence of the president. No. 5 Shortland Street, j There was a very good attendance of members, presided over by Mrs W. J. Dawson, although several apologies were sent from absentees. | Mrs J. E. Holmes, founder of the, | league, who is visiting the district, i sent warm greetings, but was unable to be present. After the usual routine business was finished. Mrs Potts, as delegate lo the Fan-Pacific Women’s Association!
locality group, gave her report of the last four lectures she had attended.
In her precis, Mrs Potts touched on Mr Middleweek’s talk of his activities at Ngawha Native School; Mr Bowman’s lecture on Peru; Mrs Morris’ talk of her experiences while District Commissioner’s lady on Niue Island; and Dr. Gilberd’s very interesting address on some Maori health problems. Mrs Morris then gave the meeting an outline of the newly-formed
emergency corps. The meeting closed with the serving of afternoon tea.
