Roosevelt’s Big Lending Programme
(Received 11.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, July 10. Bills authorising President Roosevelt’s self-liquidating lending programme were introduced in Congress today. They encountered strong opposition. The amount involved now is 2,669,000,000 dollars, credits for foreign Governments being cut from 500,000,000 to 100,000,000 dollars. The party of touring New Zealand bowlers won in matches against Balmoral teams today by 98 points to 76. The New Zealanders scored as fol-lows:—-Sinclair, 25 —21; Dee, 27 19; Adess, 24—12; Lancaster, 22—24.
