Bay Senior Teams Under Review

Now that the greater part or the season lias passed, it is lilting that senior teams In Bay Rugby, and not individual players, should be reviewed in this week’s “Roundabout.”

Foremost among the seniors is the Ohaoawai team, which is one of the best balanced to take part in the competition for some years. Although the backs are not brilliant, they are players who can produce really good football.

The team, too, possesses one of the finest packs in the North, and a pack which always works in unison, thereby obtaining results. Ohaoawai leads in the competition, but Motatau is responsible for the production of the finest all-round displays in the Bay.

Reliable Toilers,

The team is comprised of reliable toilers, the backs being superior to those of Ohaeawai, and the fast wings arc always ready to top off good back movements, which frequently arise. Otiria is a team which can play well when it wishes, but, unfortunately, individuals are inclined to go for the man instead of the ball This team is not too popular with the spectators, and it is time that it settled down to play the game which it can produce. Lack of Co-operation. A number of really good players reside in the Kaikohe district, but, for some unknown reason, the local club does not seem to be able to achieve anything in the way of collecting a reliable team.

If the pickings of the district could be placed on the field for Kaikohe. the club would have no difficulty in leading the competition. Kawakawa club is in a similar position and more co-operation is needed in this district between present players and others who have been notable performers in other centres. Although Ruataniwha has not achieved very much success so fax, there is the makings of a gooo team. The club put up a creditable performance in getting into the final m the seven-a-side tournament, and next year should prove hard to beat.
