“A Travelling Cottage”
Early this year a new British car now being built at Coventry will be put on the market, and, according to its specifications, should cause something of a sensation.
Although no photographs are yet available to verify the claims made, the makers apparently have been able to build what amounts to a self-con-tained powered caravan within a space hardly larger than a normal five-seater saloon car.
It is stated that the only noticeable divergence from standard dimensions is in the height. The issued description states that it is a travelling cottage, car and caravan in one, with ■' living accommodation for four.
The driving compartment is arranged as usual, but behind it is a kitchen cabinet and toilet and behind that a lounge with table and seats. These become beds at night and are divided off into two compartments. Other features of the furnishings are a wardrobe, a food larder, a 15-gallon water tank with an electric motor to pump the water to the taps, and a gas oven and gas fire supplied with fuel from pressure tanks beneath the car.
