Two Injured When Cars Collide
[Special to “Northern Advocate "] MERCER, This Day. As the result of a head-on collision between two motor cars on the Great South Road, about half a chain north of the Te Kauwhata turnoff yesterday afternoon, three persons were sent to hospital. They were:— Mrs E. N. Aichison, of Nelson Street.
Hastings, who suffered a fracture of the right leg above the knee.
Mrs H, S. Axbey, of Palmerston North, who is suffering from concussion. Mr Leonard William Oldridge, 23 Birdwood Avenue, New Plymouth, who received a fracture of die right kneecap.
Mr Oldridge was driving one car and Mrs Atchison was driving the other.
Both cars wore extensively damaged. After the impact. Mrs Aichison’s car caught alight, following a short circuit in the battery. The fire was extinguished without groat damage being done.
