League Of Mothers
On Thursday afternoon, March 16. the League of Mothers met for the first time for the year 1939. It was’a "most successful afternoon, with, a. record attendance of, old members',- as well as of new members. It was also almost interesting afternoon, as Mrs Inkster, ,the president, gave a very fine address on her recent visit to the League of Mothers’ Conference, which she and the secretary, Mrs Clinton Jones, attended. The address was so inspiring that all the members voiced - the opinion that the league and its-ideals are really something worth while.
Mrs Elliott moved a motion of thanks to Mrs Inkster for her address.
The league hymn was sung, Mrs: Ron Masters being the accompanist,,.and the usual leagu’e prayers were repeated. , During the afternoon Mrs Darnaby sang two songs which everyone appreciated very much. * "
In presenting a bouquet -to Mrs Cowan, who is leaving the district, Mrs Inkster spoke feelingly of the good work done by Mrs Cowan as a. committee member. -
In returning thanks, Mrs Cowan read from the hew thought book the thought .she was leaving with the members.'
The meeting closed with afternoon tea, which was provided by Mrs Timewell, Mrs Brake and Mrs Stewart.
