Hon. Langstone To Go To Geneva.
[Per Press Association. Copyright. ] WELLINGTON, This Day. Cabinet has selected the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone, to represent the Government at the 25th
cession of the International Labour Conference in Geneva this year. Making this announcement last evening, the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, said that the date of the- Minister’s departure for Europe was not yet fixed, but it would be necessary for him to leave early next month. “The conference will open oh June 8, a few days later than usual, and it will last about three weeks,” said Mr Savage. “There are six items on the agenda paper covering questions of technical and vocational apprenticeships, the regulation of contracts of employment of native workers, the n cruitments and placements of immigrant workers, and regulation of hours of work and rest periods for road transport workers, the generalisation of the reduction of hours pf work in industry, commerce and offices, and the reduction of working hours in coal mines.”
