Kaitaia Golf Club Annual Report
Following is the Kaitaia Golf Club committee’s report, which is to be presented at the annual meeting of the club:—
During the season, Mr Vallance resigned the secretaryship, and Mr B. Renton, who was appointed to succeed him, later resigned owing to his transfer from the district. The office of treasurer has been capably filled by Mr M. Cochran, who was .appointed after the last annual general meeting. The club’s finances are in a healthy state; Revenue for the season totalled £322/19/4, .and expenditure £202/9/-, including £BS/5/- for mowers. With £lB/4/4 brought forward into the accounts, the Club’s position this evening, showing cash in hand at £l3B/14/8, can be regarded as highly satisfactory. As will be seen from the balance sheet, the club’s sole liability consists of the debenture issue amounting to £137/10/-. Capital expenditure will be necessary during the coming season for further clearing on the property, and for improvements to the pavilion. The purchases of new mowers for the fairways and for the greens and their use over the past season have resulted in a noticeable improvement, particularly in the fairways.
Home and home matches were played against the Mangonui Club, and in the .annual competition for the Clarke Cup the Club’s team was eliminated.
The annual ball, held in August, proved another success both socially and financially. In order to cater for the requirements of future growth of the club, and to provide a course that will serve the needs of the district for many years to come, the committee decided to avail itself of an opportunity to acquire a further area of land for future use as a golf course.
