(Received 2.0 p.m.) i CANBERRA. This Day. j Australia's new standing army, the I first section of which has been approved by Cabinet, will be fully mechanised. I The Minister of Defence, Mr G. A. ' Street, revealed that the ultimate peacetime establishment of 75CC troops would involve an increase in the case ' of war to a strength of between 9000 1 and 10,000 men.
I The establishment of a reserve of ' members of the Australian Imperial I Forces, and of former members of British , and other Dominions’ armies, to raise front-line units from a peace , to war establishment on mobilisation, has been approved by the Federal ■ Ministry-
