Tomarata Sports And Dog Trial
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] WELLSFORD, This Day.
There was a large attendance and fine weather for the Tomarata Sports Club’s annual sports day and dog trial held at Tomarata. Mr J. G. Barclay, M.P., presented the cup for the dog trial, donated by Mr A. Ariel, of Maungaturoto. In the evening a successful dance was held in the Tomarata Sports Club’s hall. Results were as follows. —
Dog trial, open: G. Milne’s Laddie, 53 points, 1; E. Murfitt’s Lass, 39&, 2; W. Logue’s Fleet, 39, 3.
Best competitor under 20 years of age.—J. Petrie, 31i points. Cigarette race on horseback: W. Logue 1, A. Davis 2. Single ladies’ race: Miss Nora Stevenson 1, Miss June Cleasby 2. Putting the weight; F. Underwood 1, C. Wintle 2. Boys under 16: J. Nelson 1, L. Fennel 2. Girls under 16: Joyce Hartnell 1, Bess Nelson 2. Musical chairs on horseback: K. Davis 1, A. Pool 2. Men’s 100 yards: B. Skelton. Girls under 10: Mavis Ahiar 1, Kath. Carter 2. Boys under 10: John Nelson 1, Keith Hartnell 2.
