HIGHLY STRUNG, Trench Fight continues to show a highly-strung temperament when paraded for a race, and the tendency to pull is another factor that does not help him during a race. DEFAULTER’S WINNINGS: £7315. Defaulter, who cost 170 guineas as a yearling, has run in 21 races and won 16 times. His aggregate winnings at present amount to £7315, and of this amount he has won £4805 this season as a three-year-old. LOSING SEQUENCE BROKEN. D. Smith, one of the most popular jockeys of the present generation in England, concluded a remarkable losing sequence on the final day of the flat-racing season in that country. Prior to his success on Guest in the Last Selling Plate at Manchester, he had ridden 111 consecutive losers. Smith’s win was received with cheers from the spectators and, after weighing in, he was congratulated by his fellow-jockeys.
