Angry Crowd At Forbury Park
[Per Press Association. Copyright .] DUNEDIN. This Day. One of the worst demonstrations ever seen occurred at Forbury Park on Saturday, when Parisienne and Lucky Jack returned to the enclosure after finishing first and second in the Metropolitan Handicap. The crowd rushed the enclosure and angry cries of “Put them out!” “Bring the police!” “The game isn’t fair!” and “No wonder you don’t get the public!” were uttered. This continued until after the horses had left for their stalls. ' On the first day of the meeting, Parisienne collapsed when she had gone a mile in the Dunedin Cup, and Lucky Jack ran sluggishly, both horses definitely failing to reveal their true form.
After the race the connections of Parisienne were at a loss to understand her performance, and substantial evidence was given by them that they had backed both horses. It was thought that Parisienne was suffering either from kidney or liver trouble, and that her performance was in keeping with that of horses thathad suffered similarly. Horses respond quickly .to treatment for these complaints, and to that, it is believed, can be attributed Parisienne’s improvement on Saturday. No official inquiry was deemed necessary. . . ‘
