Physical Fitness Scheme All Right For Towns
CR. DODDS “This scheme is alright in the towns where fresh air and exercise is not part and parcel of the day’s work, but I do not think much interest will be shown in country districts where the population is scattered and engaged in farming,” said Cr. Dodds when the Otamatea County Council was discussing plans for Physical Fitness Week, “It would be hard to work up any interest in my riding,” said Cr. Bitten, “as the people are scattered over a wide area.” “Not much can be done here,” commented Mr. R. Coates, in any case nearly all the people around here get their kiddies on to the beach during the summer.” Ruawai Might Be Interested “We could bring the scheme before the Young People’s Association in Ruawai,” said Cr, Preston. “There are a lot of young people in Ruawai, and perhaps something could be done down there.” Cr, Preston’s suggestion was adopted and the question of calling meetings in connection with the matter was left in the hands of the staff.
