Final Gallops For Auckland Meeting

AUCKLAND, This Day. Perfect weather and track condi-

tions existed at Ellorslie this morning for the final gallops by horses with engagements at the Auckland Racing Club’s mid-summer meeting, which is to be commenced oh Saturday.

The course proper, on which the poles were out 35 feet, and the tan track, wore in most demand.

Chelandry, First Gold Money and Bronze Emerald opened ' proceedings by running half a mile in 50 seconds. They ran the first furlong in 12 1-5

seconds, Chelandry being in front at the finish.

Silver Quex completed five furlongs in 1,4 2-5, the last half-mile taking 51

seconds

Bonny Belle, after taking 13 seconds for her first furlong, completed four in 50 4-5 seconds.

Galloping Acre ran five furlongs in 1.4 1-5, the last half-mile taking 51 seconds.

Respectful Works Well

The Takapuna Cup candidate Respectful traversed a round in 2.5 2-5. He ran his last seven furlongs in 1.32 2-5, and the final three furlongs in 35 seconds.

Bronze Wings was sent five furlongs, taking 51 seconds for the last half-mile.

The youngsters. Classic, and La Vie, reeled off half a mile in 49 3-5 seconds —the best of the morning. The first furlong took 12 seconds, and Classic, who was on the inside, was in front at the post. Orient Dawn was allotted a similar task, taking 51 2-5 seconds. The Trimmer, over the same ground, was going comfortably to register 51 1-5 seconds.

De Friend Impresses. A first-class trial over a mile was credited to De Friend, who finished In front of Jonathan, Philcourt and Barrister in 1.43, The first half-mile took 50 3-5 seconds, and De Friend imi pressed by his effort. | Hackenschmidt was timed to run the last three furlongs of his work in 37 3-5 seconds. Tea Gong was given an easy six furlongs, which occupied 1.26. Hulette, - looking in great order, sprinted three furlongs in 37 3-5 secs. The maiden candidate, Odtaa, had a slight advantage over Marie’s Acre at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.4 —time which was not bettered during the morning. Captain Bruce was given useful work, doing a shade better than 15 seconds to the fui'long. Full o’ Scotch came home from the half-mile post in 51 2-5 seconds, the last three furlongs taking 38 1-5 secs. Pasture was timed to complete six furlongs in 1.18.

Huntingmoro ran five furlongs in 1.4, the first two furlongs being covered in 24 4-5 seconds.

. Aero King- Not Extended. | Fleetwind finished in front of Aero King over five-furlongs in 1.4 2-5. The I last half-mile took 51 seconds, and, ■ although beaten, Aero King could have done belter. | Valspear strode over a round in 1.57, the last seven furlongs taking 1.40 1-5. Royal Appellant was clear of Palmint at the conclusion of half a mile in 56 3-5 seconds. They were not seriously bustled. | Knight of Australia ran a round in 1 1.56 2-5.

Spinning Wheel had a bit in reserve I throughout six furlongs, which ocj copied 1.22 3-5. the last half-mile being | covered in 54 2-5 seconds, j Ringshot and Royal Message got to the end of five furlongs in 1.9 4-5. the last half-mile taking 52 seconds. Royal I Message finished in front, j Marhoke was going comfortably i while traversing five furlongs in 1.8 14-5, the last half-mile taking 54 secs.
