Water Being Carted From Te Hana Factory
1 Special to “Northern Advocate "l WELLSFORD, This Day. Householders and farmers who are dependent on tanks for their water supplies are in a serious position owing to no heavy rain having fallen over the lower north since Christmas Day. In the Wellsford township water is being carted from the dairy factor}' at Te Hana. The pastures, especially on hill country and newly laid down paddocks. are drying up rapidly and the supply of cream to the Albertland f Dairy Company’s factory at Te Hana is falling sharply. Owing to the drop in milk supplies a large number of pigs are being railed to the freezing works. . One unfortunate effect of the dry spell is the way the birds have eaten plums and early apples, and in some cases growers have lost almost their entire crop of gravensteins.
