Values for Northland Clips

[Special to “NvHhern AUCKLAD, This Day. At the second Auckland auction in the Town Hall concert chamber yesterday a fall of approximately l£d per lb on prices paid at the first sale of the season held in Auckland last November occurred.

There was a full bench of buyers and bidding was brisk, but not spectacular.

The average price was estimated at about 8d per lb, or £ll 13/4 a bale. Tine clearance was approximately 85 per cent, of the offering of 24,000 bales, and on this basis the return to growers is estimated at in the vicinity of £240,000.

The average price at the first Auckland sale of the season was 9.76 d per lb, or £l4 2/11 a bale, and the return was £339,896.

Prices paid at the second sale last year were 9.485 d per lb and £l4 a bale, giving a return fo £397,262,

Top Price 143 d

Top price at yesterday’s sale was 14ijd per lb for seven bales of Corriedale AA, grown by the late Mr T. L. Vming of Mangatangi, Mr Vining’s death occurred this week.
