Canon K. G, Williams, of Napier, who has taken over most of the duties of the Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev. Bishop Bennett, during the latter’s visit to India for the International Missionary Council Conference, left at the week-end for Rotorua and Northland to attend a mission which is being conducted among the Maoris.
« • « • The Minister of Labour, Miss Frances Perkins, in a statement to the Dies Committee* which is investigating unAmerican activities, failed to present evidence in support of the charges against Harry Bridges, San Francisco labour leader, that he had advocated the overthrow of the Government. She said Bridges had legally entered the country in 1920.
