Antarctic Land Claim Held In Abeyance
NEW YORK, January 13. The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” states that the U Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, while indicating his interest in Mr Lincoln Ellsworth’s claim.. to 80,000 / square miles of territory on the Antartic Continent, said he was not prepared to comment at this time. The question will require considerable study before officials will be in a position to say anything concerning the United States’s attitude to the claim. ' It may, however, well enter as a factor to the rival claims of Govern- ' v ments to territory in the Polar regions, due to their potential value for aeroplane bases.
