Growth of Unionism In New Zealand
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, Tliis Day. Although the membership of unions in the Dominion reached the record total last year of 232,986, it is (anticipated that the return for the year ending tomorrow will reveal further substantial increases. In an interview today, Mr H. Campbell, secretary of the Auckland Trades Council of the Federation, of Labour, said that the work of union officers has been increased over 50 per cent., and the personnel of office staff proportionately. One union had an inside staff of ten, and in addition there fy were organisers on the road.
