Salvation Army Honours Departed Member
Full Salvation Army honours were a feature cf the funeral of the late Mrs Howard Smith on Saturday afternoon. Mrs Smith was for 45 years a prominent worker in the local corps. Despite the inclement weather there was a large gathering of her friends, to pay their last tribute to her memory,
while a beautiful array of floral emblems spoke eloquently of the esteem in which the deceased lady was held.
The Army band, playing “Jerusalem, My Happy Home,” headed the cortege, while other uniformed members of the corps formed a guard of honour. Services both at the Citadel and at the graveside were conducted by Captain P. L. Smith. Last night’s meeting at the Citadel took the 4 form of a special memorial service.
