German People's Car
In Germany, Dr. Ley, head ol the Workers’ Front, instituted a savings system for the new people’s car. Cards are to be issued, and 5-mark stamps will be pasted on these. Thus a large proportion of the purchase price will be paid by the time the car is completed.
The German Workers Front bureaux were beseiged with applicants for forms. In many cases ques waited, and not all the people could be supplied at once. One bureau distributed 503 forms of application, and had to ask the remaining people to wait until the next day. Such a rush had not
been expected. All classes were represented among those who applied, ranging from professional men who lost their fortunes in the inflation to workmen who can manage to save five marks a week.
