U.S. Isolation Is Illusion
WASHINGTON, November 24,
The Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, in a radio broadcast, said the development of modern communications systems, such as radio, the telephone and the telegraph, had made impossible a national policy of isolation and self-sufficiency. “Even if we wish, we are not allowed to forget the outside world or ignore our neighbours,” said Mr Hull. ‘‘The development of communications brings home the fact that isolation and self-sufficiency are illusions, and interdependence and the need for cooperation are fundamental.”
