Eight Teams In Bay Cricket Champ

The annual meeting of the Bay of Islands Cricket Association was held at Ohaeawai. Delegates from seven clubs were present, and, although Kawakawa was not represented, it is understood that they will be entering a team, and they were included in the draw for the first of the championship games which will take place on October 30. Delegates present were; Messrs W. Blundell (chairman), P. Middleton, T. Miller, Urwin, Heathcote, Goodhew, G. White, T. Guerin, F. Kreagher, A. Riddell, F. Jones, Maxwell and the secretary, Mr T. L. G. Johnson. Teams nominated were Kerikeri, Punakitere, Ohaeawai, Kaikohe, Rangiahua, Moerewa, Kawakawa and Moehau.

Grice Shield Conditions

It was decided that the teams occupying fifth and sixth places in the championship would play off each year for the Grice Memorial Cup. The opinion of the meeting was that by creating this competition, interest would be sustained among those teams out of the running for championship honours. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr and Mrs Grice thanking them for donating the cup to the association in memory of their son Tommy, who was one of the most promising players last year and was chosen just prior to his illness to represent the Bay in the Dargaville Shield games. Group System favoured. The association decided to again play all games in one group, with home and home matches, but that outlying districts could agree, if they wished, to meet on a central ground. The Cotterill Cup will be played for under the group system, the winner in each group to play off for the final.

Caps for Kep. Players,

No expenses are to be paid for those participating in rep. games, but the association decided that eleven caps would be purchased for presentation to rep. players. No player will be chosen to represent the association from a club whose affiliation fee is unpaid. Affiliation fees unpaid by December 31 of each year will be subject to a penalty of 5/-. Office-bearers. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron. Mr H. G. Rose; president, Mr G. Ward: vicepresidents, Messrs L. W. McLelland, J. Kendall, G. L. Leaity, H. Knightbridge, J. Crawley, H. Jensen, R. Cleave and J. Wall; secretary and treasurer. Mr T. L. G. Johnson; auditor, Mr T. Miller; committee, Messrs
