Ruapekapeka Resident’s Death In Hospital

After a short illness Mr Lancelot George Timperley passed away at the Kawakawa Hospital on Sunday evening.

Deceased, who was 55 years of ,age, was born at Ruapekapeka and fof many years followed the occupation of bushman. He was married to Miss Ada Johnson, daughter of Mr James Johnson, of Karetu, and some 15 years ago commenced farming al Ruapekapeka, where he remained until the time of his death. Of a kindly and unassuming nature, Mr Timperley was a popular figure in the district, and was a member of the Kawakawa Orange Lodge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons and three daughters.

Mr Timperley’s death removes another link with early days in the Bay of Islands, His father managed John Busby’s estate at Waitangi from 1870, and Hater took up land at Ruapekapeka.

The funeral at Kawakawa yesterday was largely attended, and was in accordance with the rites of the Orange Lodge.
