Women Police In New Zealand

In accordance with a promise given some time ago to a deputation of women by the Minister in charge of the Police Department, the Hon. P. Fraser, authority for the appointment of women police is given in the Statutes Amendment Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday by Governor-General’s Message.
'■A clause in the bill states that the powers conferred by the Police Force Act for the appointment of members of the police force, including temporary members, are extended so as to include power to appoint women to be members of the force, and to give them full authority under the original Act.
