Matapouri Forms Hapu

R.D., Matapouri. Dear Kupe, We have formed a Hapu out here, and have decided to have our meetings once a fortnight. We held our first meeting on Saturday at 1.15 p.m. We played games and we had a competition. The first thing was a treasure hunt in which the treasure was found under a sod on the lawn behind the Tohunga’s house. Our Tohunga is Mr O’Carroll. Our Chief is Dorothy Clements, and oiu’ scribe is Ray Donaldson. Well, Kupe. it is horrible weather out here, and it is wet and muddy around the door. A loyal maiden, ERRICE DONALDSON.

[Well done, Matapouri! I’d like to hear more about your Hapu meetings. I’m sure you have tremendous iun—in fact I’d be very disappointed if you did not. Suggest that your scribe writes telling me all about the next hapu meeting.—Kupe].
