The annual provincial primary schools Rugby football tournament for the Roller Mills Shield was commenced in Auckland yesterday, four matches being played in two sections. Games were played on heavy grounds, with the result that there was much forward play. The most exciting match was between Auckland Central and Northland, which resulted in a draw, 3 all. Following are the results: — A section. —Auckland Central 3, drew with Northland (Ready) 3; Auckland East 5, beat Hamilton 0. B section.—'Waipa 3, drew with Auckland North 3; South Auckland 3, beat Thames Valley 0.
