Craft Shelter At Whangarei

Driven to shelter by terrific seas outside the Heads, and a gale of high velocity, three scows anchored off the limeworks at Taurikura on Saturday. They were the Ngahau and Haero, both bound for Parengarenga to load glass sand, and the Esme, which had completed taking a cargo of sand aboard at Marsden Point. Gusts of wind pocketing down from the hills caused the craft to rock at their anchors, so that, purely as a precautionary measure, the Ngahau preceded up-harbour to the greater sanctuary of the Whangarei Town Wharf, where she remained until this morning.
