The romance behind the building and maintaining of America’s first lifeUhe of Empire—the Wells Fargo Trail which linked the Far West with the East, is the background for the gripping love story of Joel McCrea and Frances Dee in “Wells Fargo,” which met witn. a great reception from Saturday’s large audiences at the Plaza. Two generations of a great American family are traced in bold background in this amazing picture, which deals with one of the most brilliant periods in history—the opening of the St, Louis-San Francisco trail. The magic of the motion picture camera brings back to life in this production some of the most stirring and colourful days in America's exciting developmental days.

The story is concerned with the family fortunes of Joel McCrea, a man of vision, and Frances Dee, a trusting wife who does nor understand her husband’s dreams. This is woven around the establishment of the famous Wells Fargo Trail, America’s “lifeline of Empire,” ,and takes in the 20 colourful and crucial years in America which began with the discovery of gold in California and the end of the War between the States. The big supporting casr is headed by Bob Burns.

There is a first-class supporting programme, including Pop-eye The Sailor in “The Football Toucher Downer.”
