Nelson Harbour Damage
IPer Press Association. Copyright .] NELSON. This Day. The heavy northerly sea last night caused violent conditions along the coast. The mole on the southern side of the entrance to Nelson harbour was damaged, a section of about 30 yards being washed out. Although there was only minor damage to telegraph lines in the Nelson district, breakdowns in other areas necessitated the Nelson telegraph office staff standing by all night to assist in relaying messages from other districts. . In addition to using the emergency radio station, ,a second station was brought into action in Nelson, and both plants worked all night transmitting and receiving from Greymouth telegrams which could not be put over the line.
