Picnic Races At Pataua

Certainly the first picnic of its kind in Northland and possibly the first in New Zealand. the Pataua Picnic Sports Club has been authorised by the Minister of Internal Affairs to hold a special sports meeting at the Pataua Racecourse on Labour Day. October 24,

A 16 event programme has been approved by the Auckland District Committee and the club is registered by the New Zealand Racing Conference. Events, which cover a wide range of equestrian attractions. include special classes for boys and girls and ladies, besides stockmen's events, fiat and hurdle races.

The rules make it clear that the events are for amateur horsemen only.

A prime mover in .arranging the picnic is Mr H, r’Doc”) MacKenzic. of Tutukaka, from whom further particulars of the fixture may be obtained.
