Tennis

NEW YORK, August 8. The Australian lady tennis players who competed at Wimbledon, arrived keenly excited by the Queen Mary’s record trip. They will practice at Forest Hills this week, and will leave for Manchester, New Hampshire, on August 14, for the Essex county club’s invitation tournament, at which Miss Marble and other first rankers will be competing. Misses Stevenson and Wynne, Mrs Hopman and Miss Coyne will pair for the doubles, but the pairing for the national doubles at Boston on August 22 will be Misses Wynne and Coyne, Mrs Hopman and Miss Stevenson, Similar pairings are arranged for the Australian-United States match in the following week, play on the first day being at Maidstone and on the second day at Southampton.

The Australian girls will compete in the mixed national championships the pairings being Hopman ,and Mrs Hopman, Quist and Miss Wynne, Bromwich and Miss Coyne, Schwartz and Miss Stevenson.

After the national singles on September 8, the lady players will go to Los Angeles on September 22 for the Pacific south-west championship, and to San Francisco on October 3 for the Pacific coast championship. They will sail for Australia by the Monterey on October 11.
