Billiard Parlour Workers’ Award

Wages and hours of work for employees in billiards parlours and sports rooms in the northern industrial district are fixed in an award issued yesterday by the Arbitration Court. The award is to operate for a year from August 15. A 44-hour week Cor full-time workers and a 30-hour week for night workers are provided.
Both classes of workers may be employed on six days a week with a maximum of eight hours a day for full-time workers and of five hours a day for night workers. For the latter, an exception is made on Saturdays, when they may be employed for
71 hours. For full-time workers the minimum weekly wage is to be £4 S,/-. while night workers are to receive at least £3 5/-. Any employee, who. in addition to his ordinary duties, has to perform cleaning work, is to receive a minimum of £4 10. - a week. Provision is made for an annual holiday of one week on full pay.
