Fatal Accidents

An Auckland telegram says that a middle-aged married woman was knocked down by a motor car while crossing the road outside her home in Victoria Road. Belmont, shortly afterseven o'clock on Saturday evening. De'ath was Instantaneous. The victim was Mrs Veada Florence Mary Chambers, aged 54, the wife of Mr Sinclair Wilfred Hallyburton Chambers, of Victoria Road, Belmont, a clerk employed by the Devonport Borough Council. Mrs Chambers was crossing the road to join her husband on the way to the pictures in Devonport.

An elderly man, Mr Archibald John McArthur, who was severely burned in a fire in an old boardinghouse a week ago, died in the New Plymouth Hospital yesterday. The fire swept through the room in. which Mr McArthus was sleeping, and he was dragged out with difficulty.
