[Per Press Association. Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day. The appointment of women to the Legislative Council was supported by the annual conference of the Dominion Federation of Women’s Institutes yesterday by the unanimous adoption of the following resolution submitted by the Tauranga District Federation. “That this Dominion conference of Women’s Institutes urge that the law be amended to permit of the appointment of women to the Legislative Council.” In support of the adoption of the resolution, it was stated by one delegate that no matter how good-male representation might be in Parliament it was necessary that women should have' a voice in the government of the country, and that as women were now eligible for election to the House of Representatives they should also have the right to sit in the Legislative Council. The resolution was adopted without dissent. It was also suggested that a Parliamentary committee of women should be set up to advise the Government on domestic subjects specially relating to women and the home. Those attending the Exhibition associated with the Women’s Institute Conference in Wellington showed considerable interest in the attractive stall of Hansell Laboratories Ltd., Masterton —the Essence Specialists of New Zealand. The display included the now famous Mansell's Cloudy Food Flavourings, Mansell’s Milko, Mansell’s Beau Brocade Bath Essences and Hand Lotion and many other of their well-known culinary and toilet products manufactured by this progressive firm. 248
