Fears for the figure of private hos,l'iUils were expressed at a conference of representatives of 12 Taranaki hospitals, which discussed the new hours of work regulations. It was decided. Lo submit to, the Director-General. Hr. M. H. Watt,* and the Minister of Health, the Hon, P. Fraser, a suggestion that, in view of tho difficulties of staffs v >pnd for the convenience of employees, there should be more elasticity In hours (especially in the matter of meal hours) being excluded from the 48hour working week, and that staffs be compensated for extra hours worked in rush periods by an annual holiday.
