collecting firewood on the beach, near the Napier Municipal Baths this morning, Mr William Robson found the body of a newly-born European female child. The body was lying among driftwood below highwater mark. and was apparently washed up by the tide last evening or this morning. CHARGE against Leonard Nciling. labourer and brushmakcr, aged 2G. of causing the death of John Joseph Owen by an unlawful act. thereby committing manslaughter. was dismissed by Mr J. If. Luxford, S.M., in the Fetone Court yesterday, after the hearing of evidence. The magistrate said most of the evidence showed that ther had been a light between two brothers, accused and Thomas Neiling. during which it appeared deceased had interfered and received a slight injury, which, in hir. condition, caused complications that resulted in his death. This was misadventure. On charge'; of assaulting Florence Lily Maude Owen and committing mischief by wilfully breaking M panes of glass and a glass door, of a total value of £23 19 -.
