Elimination Of Local Race
Elimination of the local race is to bo considered by the Whangarei Racing Club committee. At the club's annual meeting last night the president. Mr. R. G. Hosking, intimated that some amendments to the present programme, would be advisable. “With the way ownership is in this district, it is suggested that we cut
out the local racer’ he said. “That race is not giving encouragement to local breeders as might have been thought. There are so few thoroughbred mares in this district that the local race does not seem justified. The time may come, however, when there will bo more local, thoroughbred mares, and we can. again pul on a local race. “We have, however, to admire the three or four sportsmen who have supported the local event," he concluded. The suggestion will be considered by Ihe committee.
