British High Commissioner For N.Z.
(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. Sir Harry Batterbee has been appointed British High Commissioner to New Zealand. This is in accordance with the Government’s policy of developing a system of consultation and communication between Britain and the Dominions. Assistant Under-Secretary of State at the Dominions Office since 1930, Sir Harry Batterbee visited New Zealand on official occasions. He was in the Dominion with the Special Service Squadron on the Empire cruise, 192324, as political secretary to the Admiral in command. He also toured with the present King and Queen as political secretary when, as Duke and Duchess of York, they visited Zealand and Australia in 1927.
