With Cos Wright's dance band at the head of affairs, and Mr E. Skinner as M.C.. a merry programme of games and dancing, interspersed with individual items by members of the staff and one or two assisting artists, was thoroughly enjoyed, much unexpected talent being revealed. The use of Mr J. Rice's true-tono pound system added much to the interest of the occasion. A challenge shield, with a typical newspaper motif, for interdepartmental competition, was won by the literary department. The social, which was. marked by a splendid spirit of camaraderie, concluded with the singing of ‘Auld Lang Syne."
