HARBOUR BOARD’S 40,000 TREES. During June and July, 14,000 pinus insignis trees were planted by the Whangarei Harbour Board in its afforestation area. This brings the total plantings for the season to 24,000, and the grand total, over an ai’ea of 68 acres, to 40,000 trees since the scheme was put into operation. The board is to investigate provision for fire pi'evention and other protections for the plantations.
