Senior League Final On Saturday

.Next Saturday the senior League championship of the Northern Rugby League will be finalised. Hikurangi and City meeting at 3 p.rn. at Jubilee Parle. This decision was reached at n meeting of the League Management Committee on Tuesday night. Saturday's games Will be the last of the second round. Hikurangi had a substantial lead, but this was reduced by their defeat at the hands of; Kamo, and so City, who last Saturday defeated Whakapara. have come within striking distance. Hikurangi are holding 15 points, and City 14. and thus City will have to win to take the honours. A draw will still leave Hikurangi the winners by a one-point margin. The programme at Jubilee Park will thus be a particularly interesting one, as in addition to the championship final. Mt. Albert senior reserve team, of Auckland, are visiting Whangarei to play Kamo United seniors. Mt. Albert are leading the Auckland senior reserve competition, and the game, which is scheduled for 1.30. is sure to be full of thrills and incidents. The Kamo United team, drawn mainly from the ranks of Kamo and Whakapara, will be as follows: L. Thorburn. Toki, Wells, E. Murray, Lewis, C. Jones. Lenne (Captain), Rockell, McMillan. G. Pitman, Graham, McGee, J. Taylor. Emergencies: L. Hooper, Gough, Abbott.

Portland Junior Winners. The junior championship competition has been declared closed, with Portland, the winners. Portland have maintained an unbeaten record this season. One Tree Point are runnersup. On Saturday next the juniors will commence a one-round knock-out competition. Hikurangi Stars* Success. The fourth grade competition has also'been declared closed, with Hikurangi Stars the winners and Kamo runners-up. The fourth-grade teams will commence their knock-out competition on Saturday, August 6. On August 6 also, the annual MaoriPakeha senior and junior games will be played at the park. For Saturday, August 20. a visit from Birkenhead-Northcote senior reserve team has been arranged, and a match between this team and a club combination will take place at Jubilee Park on that date.
