Kaitaia Dairy Coy.’s Good Year
The annual report ol the Kaitaia Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd., states that the output for the season ended June 30'last was 2125.562 tons, which represents an increase of 118 tons 2 cwt., or 5.88 per cent, on the previous season. Production during the year was variable as a result of abnormal climatic conditions and low rainfall during the late summer months. Payout. The payment for butterfat for the season 1956-37 averaged 13.443 d per lb., exclusive of dividend on shares and cream collection. For the current season 1937-38 butter graded for export and in store on 30/6/38, (9118 boxes) was valued i or balance purposes at the guaranteed price for the respective grades. Unsold stock of butter held for local trade at date of balance was valued at 1 /2i per lb., less commission and charges. Advance payments for the season averaged . 12.239 d over all grades and-;' with the amount available for distribution. inclusive of dividend on shares, will return for all grades an average af 14.780 d per lb. butterfat. Cream collection cost ,424 d per. lb. butterfat, making the average return over all grades at the farm ' gate 15.204 d per lb. Various Costs. Total charges up to f.o.b. at per lb. butterfat were 2.113 d compared with 2.060 d last year. ‘ Cream collection showed a slight reduction per lb. butterfat, and wages, materials and boxes a slight increase. Fuel and sundry charges were slightly down. The manufacturing charges amounted to 1.01 Id per lb. butterfat compared with ,920 d la?t year.
Distribution of Surplus. The balance available for distribution is £41,693 13s 3d. The directors propose to allocate this amount as follows: Dividend, 3 per cent on paid-up capital, £673; further payment butterfat at 2.5 Cd per lb including bonus of .41 d from the Government, £40,706 2s 6d; transfer trading reserve, £150; carried forward, £164 10s 9d.
