’Change Activity Maintained
[Special to “Northern Advocate.'"! AUCKLAND, This Day. Yesterday’s activity on the Stock Exchange was maintained throughout the day and up to the first call this morning, at which another good list of sales was put through. Values as a whole were steady, with the exception of Government stocks, which are quoted lower all round than was the case a week ago. At this morning’s call, Australian Industrials were in steady demand, but offers for metal shares were shaded down. Colonial Sugars were very firm, and buyers advanced to £4B, with lowest sellers 17/6 higher. Insurances were more active, both New Zealand and South British holding the recent, advances. In the banking section, New Zealands were offered 3d lower, at 43/3, buyers unchanged at 43/. Taranaki Oils were firm between 13/9 and 14/, and Farmers’ Trading shares were offered 2d cheaper, at 20/1. Sales completed at the noon call today were: New Zealand Insurances, £2 17/; South British, £2 6/6; Dominion Breweries, £1 15/3; Tooth’s Breweries, £2 15/-; Gear Meat, 14/4; Peters Ice Cream, £1 3/; Woolworths holdings, 15/8; Broken Hill South, £1 13/3; stock, 43-46, £102; stock, March, 39-43, £IOO 5/; Auckland. Harbour Board, 9/7/40, £lO5.
