Although the size and capacity of the new ground has not yet been determined, oysters taken from this patch are claimed to be exceptionally fine quality, the best brought to Bluff for many years. They are large and firm, with a heavy shell. This new patch—it is not known whether it is of sufficient size to be termed a bed —was discovered by Messrs. N. and R. Roderique, of Bluff, who collected 70 sacks during the first day. They subsequently made their discovery known, and there was a rush by oystermen m the locality, various boats returning with from GO to 70 sacks. The average patch of good oysters during the season has been from 25 to 30 sacks.
