Level Crossing Accident At Mt. Eden

A heavy sedan motor-car was dragged along the track for about 75 yards before coming to rest across the permanent-way when it was struck by the engine of a suburban passenger train at the Boston Road level-crossing. Mt. Eden, shortly after 10 o’clock last night. The driver. Mr Charles Henry Frankham. aged (17. a well-known timber merchant, of 199 Jervois Road, Herne Bay, was removed from the crushed vehicle suffering from severe head injuries. Lying across the rails, Ihe damaged car had to be shifted to the side of the road before the train could proceed to Auckland. It was impossible to remove it from the track last night, and. after ensuring that there was adequate clearance for trains to pass, the vehicle was left for removal to-dav.
