India Wins First Hockey Test

Abdul Latif attempted to scoop the ball into the net, but W. Bowden came across smartly to clear and hit the ball into the goal—scoring for India. India 2 New Zealand 0 Smart play by W. Bowden gave New Zealand a great chance, Watchman streaking down to India’s goal line. His centre, however, went behind the net instead of in front of it. Halftime was called with the pjay in midfield and the score:— India 2 New Zealand 0 A spirited attack by India was turned back by Watson, who sent Watchman away supported by. Brown, but. he was stopped by Lajpat Rai. A snappy run by Watchman saw India’s goal in danger, but Hussain hit the ball out. Cunning play by W. J. Bowden gave New Zealand a golden chance, which was spoiled by Hussain. From a bully in New Zealand’s twentyfive India swept down to the goal with Shahabuddin in possession, A magjnificent centre gave Feroz Khan a chance to beat the goalie with a short flick.
